Ol Liklik Stori na Stori bilong Tumbuna
A collection of member's experiences fishing and adventuring in the Huon Gulf and well beyond. Kicked off here with Kerry King's account of the first big club 'adventure' when six club members got together, said "inap long ol mauswara" and travelled 2,000 miles to take in the Bougainville National Titles in 1983 plus one of PNG's most remote and exotic locations, Egum Atoll. Followed by Kerry's stories of the first National Titles held by the LGFC - just to push the envelope - out of Finschhafen and finally, Lae's third Titles, pushing the envelope south this time, out of Salamaua.
Barry Mallett (LGFC past-President) provides us with a glimpse into the determined enterprise that assisted the Mallett family to dominate the results and records of the LGFC for many years. Barry and wife Flo have 'retired' near Gympie, north of Brisbane and we look forward to the results of further forays into the go-pinis container. Now included is the transcript of Barry & Flo's account of the sinking of 'Wild Thing' and eventual rescue of Barry, Flo & Justin - 'Story of Survival' - a Must Read for every member.
Daniel King joins us with a weighty paper, written as part of the journey towards a Masters of Applied Science in Aquaculture, for those of us interested in the technical aspects of aquaculture.
Lester Rohrlach, LGFC's raconteur extraordinaire, 'Teller of Truths', follows up his tour round the fishing hot spots of the Huon Gulf (Where-How-Why page) with 'Mako Chaos', a tale of encounters with this most energetic fish, 'Mama Makaira', a fictional account of one marlin's encounter with the Huon Gulf and it's above water predators and 'Tya Tya the Irrepressible', an extraordinary account of the amazing pike eel. There are more stories in the pipeline from Lester and even a little poetry.
