King Tides

King tides and big swells have braced the Huon Gulf with enormous amounts of wood and debris filling the marina. Ships and boats alike where breaking ropes as the large swells belted the coastline. The rain and big seas has limited the amount of boats that have gone fishing. The Brian Bell Coleman competition was a success with some anglers finding the fish and doing very well.

Presentation Night 2004 / 2005: This years presentation night was a real success with over 150 guests, excellent food, plenty of music and dancing, and a great night overall. Congratulations go out to Theo and Daphine Pelgen for winning the Highest Point Scoring Angler’s 1st and 2nd place. Third place overall goes to Cathy Kenward.

….. A table full of guests on the night….

New Logo’s: As you may have noticed we have a new LOGO…..Yeah!! We have employed the talents and skills of the one and only Speedy (Terry Ryan) to come up with a real ripper in the logo department.

In addition Speedy has gone all out and created a Logo for the Lae National fishing titles in April. Only 8 months away. As always Speedy an absolutely wonderful job, the time and effort you put into these things is greatly appreciated.

Lae – Easter, GFAPNG 31st National Titles

8 – 17th April 2006

The National Titles for 2006 are in Lae. The committee has already begun planning for the event and are determined to ensure Lae 2006 is the best titles ever.

We are looking for Volunteers to help with the numerous tasks so if you are keen to lend a hand we would appreciate it.

Does anyone out their have lots of Qantas frequent flyer points but can never use them? If that is you then why not organise some friends, family and mates to use some points to come to Lae for the National titles. It is only 8,000 points one way from Cairns to POM. With all the cheap flights to Cairns now, the cost of coming to PNG may now be more affordable. Go to www.qantas.com.au and click on the frequent flyer section. You will need to book early, as these tickets don’t last.

We need you: We need help from all members out there who have some great stories, some memorable jokes and any photo’s of family or friends having fun, catching fish for the Titles book next year. We are in need of a real wonderful shot for the front cover. We need heaps of photo’s or members catching fish, having fun fishing etc etc. And we need some good stories.

If you can help with any or all of these requests please send any information to Josh Fischer at email josh.fischer@gfinternational.com.au

 or phone 473 3551.
