Lae Yacht Club Marina entrance is situated at 6°44.30'S 147°00.48'E in the Voco Point area of Lae's shoreline. The first stage of the marina and floating jetty system was completed at the end of 2001 and consists of 11 x 10m, 9 x 12m, 1 x 13m, 1 x 14m, 5 x18m and 2 x 20m berths. In addition there are 1 x 18m & 1 x 20m fore/aft moorings.
A second and final stage of construction will add a further 25 berths including 10m, 14m & 16m however this will only be undertaken when demand and finances permit and is not being contemplated at present.
Click here for a plan of the marina berths.
Depth of water inside the marina is 2.8m at Low Low Water (0.0m) however depths immediately outside the entrance are variable and may be low as 1.5M - see depth survey map however this is supplied as a guide only and skippers must rely on their own observations when navigating the entrance. Tidal movement varies up to 1.3m.
Sea bottom inside and immediately outside the marina is sand and gravel.
Visiting yachts are welcome, however, in order to be assured of a berth please notify the club manager in advance.
